We always talk about Found being a community focussed app. We want to make sure you get your lost property back and having a strong community makes that even easier. But when the owner of lost property can’t be found we can turn that into a happy ending as well! 💜
How do we manage such a feat? We do it by partnering with charities to give lost property a second life and distribute it to those in need. Our first charity partner is Caring in Bristol, who are committed to solving homelessness in our city.
“Unclaimed lost property is an issue for businesses and it’s often easier for them to bin it. We wanted Found to solve that problem whilst doing good for the community.
We’re really excited about our first charity partnership with Caring in Bristol, to ensure unclaimed lost property items like hats, scarves, jackets and more can be given to people who really need them rather than heading to landfill.”
CEO and Founder, Lance Plunkett
The Found app works by connecting the public and businesses to return lost property. You register your valuables and when you lose them, mark them as lost in the app. Likewise businesses use the app to register the items they find. Found’s image recognition software and clever technology matches the loser with the finder of the item to arrange a quick return either by collecting it or arranging delivery from in the app.
Sometimes that doesn’t happen, but we can still make the outcome a happy one. Each business sets their own holding time for lost property and once an item has remained unclaimed for that time, the Found app reassigns it to a charity that needs it. The first charity to come on board and benefit from this feature is Caring in Bristol.
“We’re pleased to partner with Found. It’s great to see Bristol’s reputation as a tech hub expanding to include businesses like Found that can support local charities in an innovative and easy way.
We think the key to making real change within Bristol is working alongside inspiring organisations, helping to empower our whole city to act.”
